Drive bay limited exceeded

The storage array has exceeded the allowed number of drive bays. This problem typically occurs when you add an additional drive shelf after you already have the maximum number of drive bays allowed.

Important
This problem may cause other problems to be reported in the Problems area, such as device limits exceeded, loss of redundancy, and errors for missing drives or volumes. If there are multiple problems reported, resolve them in this order: 1) Feature Bundle Out of Compliance 2) This problem (Drive Bay Limit Exceeded), and then 3) any other problem. After you select Recheck after completing these recovery steps, some or all of the other problems may be resolved.

Recovery Steps

  1. Did the drive shelf you recently added contain data?

    • If yes, go to step 2.

    • If no, remove the recently-added drive shelf and then go to step 3.

  2. Do you need to transfer any of the existing data onto the storage array?

    • If yes, do NOT continue with the recovery steps. Contact a Technical Support Engineer to see if your storage array can be upgraded to a different feature to allow more drive bays.

    • If no, remove the recently-added drive shelf and then go to step 3.

  3. If you altered your cabling configuration to add or remove the drive shelf, refer to your cabling documentation and ensure that you have the proper cabling configuration.

  4. Select Recheck to ensure the problem has been resolved.
