Monitoring the system health

This section describes how to monitor the health of the ThinkServer, SR635/655, and HX2710/3710 (8689) servers and their hardware components.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Operations Manager console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Monitoring > Lenovo Hardware > ThinkServer and SR635/655.
  3. To view the overall status of the servers, select the ThinkServer and SR635/655 BMC view.
  4. To view the critical or warning alerts associated with your hardware, click Active Alerts. To learn more about the alerts, refer to Using Health Explorer to view and resolve problems.
  5. To view the hardware component information, select the hardware component that you want to check.
    Note
    • The ThinkServer and SR635/655 > Hardware Components folder includes the views of Cooling Devices, Disk Drive, Fibre Channel, Firmware/VPD, InfiniBand, Numeric Sensors, PCI Device, Physical Memory, and Processors.

    • These hardware components are marked with Not monitored in the component view, but they are actually under health monitoring. When the events of these hardware components are received from XClarity Administrator, alerts will be generated and be displayed in Active Alerts view.

    • If the related hardware issue is resolved, the server health state will be reset automatically and the related alerts need to be cleared manually.
