Management server-centric licensing

Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter resides in an environment where there are management servers and endpoints. Management servers are the central focal points where the primary management functions originate, while endpoints are the systems that are queried and managed by the management servers.

Although your licensing terms may restrict your usage of premium Lenovo XClarity Integrator functionality on the endpoints in your infrastructure, you must perform all licensing actions for these endpoints on a management server. In this sense, adding, querying and removing license entitlements are management server-centric activities.

In general, management servers consist of the systems on which the primary central Lenovo XClarity Integrator management software is installed. In the case of Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter, the management server is the vCenter management server on which the plug-in reside.

To use premium functionality on the Lenovo endpoints in your environment, you must perform all licensing actions using Lenovo License Entitlement Pack on the management servers in your environment. You can perform these licensing actions on as many management servers as you wish to activate as long as you adhere to the terms of your licensing agreement.
