Planning and installationYou can install XClarity Orchestrator on Microsoft Hyper-V (see Supported hardware and software – XClarity Orchestrator).

You can set a static IP address on the eth0 port when configuring the virtual appliance on the local system (see Setting up XClarity Orchestrator on a local system).

To use the analytics functions, an XClarity Orchestrator Analytics license is needed for each managed device that supports the Lenovo XClarity Administrator advanced functions (see Applying XClarity Orchestrator licenses).

AdministeringYou can limit users' access to a specific set of resources (devices and resource managers) such that they can see data (such as inventory, events, alerts, and analytics) that is related to only those resources (see Creating access-control lists).

You can limit the resources that users can see based on their membership in an LDAP group.

A user with supervisor privileges can change the password for another user. (see Changing details for another user).

Added the Web inactivity session timeout for full operations user security setting to set the amount of time, in minutes, that a user session can be inactive before the user is automatically logged out, for create, modify, or delete actions, and changed the Web inactivity session timeout user security setting to Web inactivity session timeout for view operations only to set the amount of time, in minutes, that a user session can be inactive before the user is automatically logged out, for view-only actions (see Configuring user security settings).

Configuring an LDAP server is simplified (see Setting up an external LDAP authentication server).

You can choose to use secure SSL connection for LDAPS based on a trusted certificate (see Creating user groups).

You can create a cloned user group based on an existing user group in an external LDAP server (see Creating user groups).

When an external LDAP user logs in to XClarity Orchestrator for the first time, a user is cloned in XClarity Orchestrator (see Setting up an external LDAP authentication server).

You can give supervisor or administrator (non-supervisory) privileges to local and cloned users (see Creating user groups).

You can add XClarity Orchestrator to resource manager groups to control access data for XClarity Orchestrator (see Creating resource groups).

Monitoring resources and activitiesFrom the main dashboard, you can drill down into more details from the Warranty and Service Tickets cards. Clicking on a category on each of those cards navigates you to a filtered list of the devices in that category (see Viewing a summary of your environment).

System utilization, power consumption, and temperature metrics are available for ThinkAgile and ThinkSystem devices (see Viewing device details).

If resource-based access control is enabled and you do not have supervisor privileges, event and metrics data that can be forwarded is restricted using one or more access control lists that are available to you (see Forwarding event, inventory, and metric data).

You can forward inventory and event data to Intelligent Insights (see Forwarding events to SAP Data Intelligence).

You can exclude alerts and events from the view (see Excluding alerts and events)

Predicting and analyzing problemsYou can get statistics for devices with no firmware data or firmware data without a date (see Analyzing firmware).

You can create custom analytics reports using on custom metrics, alerts, and queries (see Creating custom analytics reports).

Service and supportYou can optionally send data about your hardware to Lenovo on a periodic basis to help Lenovo improve your experience with service and support Sending periodic data to Lenovo).
REST APIXClarity Orchestrator provides a set of easy-to-use REST APIs that can be used to access XClarity Orchestrator data and services from applications running outside of the XClarity Orchestrator framework. For information about new and updated REST APIs, see Summary of changes in the REST API.
