Snapshot group or member volume failed

A snapshot group or member volume in a consistency group (CG) has failed.

Important
  • Data is no longer usable on any associated snapshot images. Depending on the affected object, you will either need to delete the affected snapshot group or remove the member volume from the consistency group.

  • This failure typically occurs because there is a problem with the associated base volume, one or more of the individual repository volumes comprising the reserved capacity, or there is an integrity error that cannot be corrected. If there are any problems in the Problems area related to these objects, it is important to also complete the recovery steps for those problems.

Recovery Steps

  1. Is the object identified in the Details area a snapshot group or consistency group member volume?

    • If it is a snapshot group, go to step 2.

    • If it is a consistency group member volume, go to step 3.

  2. Delete the snapshot group, and then go to step 4.

    1. Go to Storage > Pools & Volume Groups. Then, select the Reserved Capacity tab.

    2. Highlight the affected snapshot group shown in the Details area.

    3. Select Delete snapshot group under Uncommon Tasks.

    4. Go to step 4.

  3. Remove the member volume.

    1. Go to Storage > Snapshots. Then, select the Consistency Groups tab.

    2. Highlight the affected consistency group shown in the Details area.

    3. Expand the consistency group by selecting the + sign to show the associated member volumes.

    4. Highlight the affected member volume identified in the Details area.

    5. Select Remove.

  4. Select Recheck to ensure the problem has been resolved.
