Synchronization suspended

An asynchronous mirror group was in the process of synchronizing data, however the synchronization process has been stopped.

This problem can occur in the following situations:

The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Important:
  • Although this problem is only reported on the primary side (this storage array) of the asynchronous mirror group, the problem can occur because of problems on BOTH the primary and secondary side (remote storage array) of the mirror group. Therefore, if there are any primary volume, secondary volume, or repository volume conditions reported in the Recovery Guru Summary area on EITHER storage array associated with the affected mirror group, fix those problems first. Fixing those problems may resolve this problem.

  • Primary and secondary volume error conditions occur on a per mirrored pair basis and independently from other mirrored pairs within the asynchronous mirror group.

  • When an asynchronous mirror group is suspended, synchronization of mirrored pairs will not occur until the underlying conditions are resolved and the mirror group is resumed.

Recovery Steps

  1. Refer to the Details area to identify the affected asynchronous mirror group.

  2. Check for other problems reported in the Summary area associated with the affected asynchronous mirror group on both this storage array and the remote storage array.

    If... Then...
There ARE other problems being reported that are associated with the mirror group Fix those problems first and then return to this procedure. Go to step 3.
There are NOT any other problems being reported that are associated with the mirror group Go to step 3.
  3. Perform the following steps to resume the asynchronous mirror group:

    1. On the Storage and Copy Services tab in the Array Management Window, highlight the affected mirror group.

    2. Select the Copy Services > Mirroring > Asynchronous Mirroring > Mirror Group > Resume menu option.

    3. Follow the instructions in the dialog, and then click the Yes button.

  4. Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your Technical Support Representative.
