Software enhancements

Version 1.0.1 supports the following enhancements to the management software.
Function Description
Port availability The DNS names and IP addresses that must be available for call home and update functions has been updated (see Port availability).
Performance improvements Power and thermal metrics are collected on demand when you view or refresh the power and thermal page for a specific managed device (see Viewing the details of a managed chassis, Viewing the details of a managed server, Viewing the details of a storage device, and Viewing the details of a switch).
Operating system deployment You can deploy a VMware ESXi image to a managed server using an SD media adapter as the storage location in that managed server (see Choosing the storage location for managed servers).
Firmware updates The latest firmware-update packages are bundled into a firmware-update repository pack that you can download to the management-server updates repository (see Updating firmware on managed devices).

You can also check for latest firmware that has not been included in a bundle from the Repository age (see Refreshing the product catalog).

Rack fillers In addition to generic fillers, you can add specific types of fillers including storage controllers and enclosures from Lenovo and Lenovo partners (such as IBM, NetApp, and EMC).

You can customize properties for fillers that you add to a rack view. Properties include the name, lowest rack unit (LRU), and URL that is used to launch the management user interface for that device.

For more information, see Managing racks.
