Software enhancements

This version supports the following enhancements to the management software.
FunctionDescription
Planning and installationThe advanced management functions (including OS deployment and server configuration) are now disabled if licenses are not installed before the 90-day free trial or license-noncompliance grace period ends, (see Licenses and the free 90-day trial and Installing the full-function enablement license).
Jobs, events, and alertsYou can acknowledge active alerts so that they do not affect the severity status for the applicable device (see Acknowledging alerts).

You can select multiple devices and put them in maintenance mode at a time (see Placing devices in maintenance mode).

Device configurationYou can configure DNS servers, NTP servers, and user-account security-settings on managed servers using configuration patterns (see Defining extended management-controller settings).
Operating system deploymentThe following operating system can no longer be deployed from XClarity Administrator (see Supported operating systems).
  • CentOS Linux 7.0 and 7.1

  • Microsoft® Windows® Server 2012R1

  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux Server 6.2–6.7, 7.0, and 7.1

  • SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server 11SP4

  • VMware vSphere® Hypervisor (ESXi) 5.1u1, 5.1u2, 5.1u3

You can use the subnetCIDRNumber macro to add the subnet mask of the host server to be used after the operating system is deployed to an unattend file or post-installation script (see Predefined macros).

Firmware updatesXClarity Administrator comes with a predefined firmware-compliance policy named Latest firmware (see Creating and assigning firmware-compliance policies).

You can retrieve information about and download the latest firmware-updates for all managed devices or a selected set of devices in a single step (see Downloading firmware updates).

You can select the Report Non-Compliance for Firmware Without Target global setting to flag devices as non-compliant when a firmware component has no associated target in the firmware-compliance policy (see Configuring global firmware-update settings).

Windows device-driver updatesBy default, only device drivers for managed hardware are listed. You can clear the Show Device Drivers for installed hardware global setting to instead list all device drivers in each imported UpdateXpress System Pack (see Configuring global Windows device-driver update settings).
