Software enhancements

This version supports the following enhancements to the management software.
Function Description
Planning and installation You can install XClarity Administrator as a container in Docker (see Installing and setting up XClarity Administrator for the first time).

XClarity Administrator cPlus edition supports additional devices requested by China customers. You can apply the XClarity Administrator cPlus edition to XClarity Administrator v3.5 or later after enabling the required global setting (see Updating XClarity Administrator).

You can redeem licenses directly from the XClarity Administrator web interface (see Installing the full-function enablement license).

Open port requirements were corrected (see Port availability).
  • UDP on port 1900 must be opened inbound and outbound for SSDP discovery and management of ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile servers.

  • TCP on port 445 is not needed for OS deployment or OS device driver updates.

  • For outbound communication, TCP on ports 3001 and 8443 are not needed for OS deployment.

  • For outbound communication, TCP on port 445 is not needed for OS device driver updates.

  • For inbound communication, TCP on ports 5985 and 5986 are not needed for OS device driver updates.

Device management XClarity Administrator can manage tape libraries (see Managing storage devices).

XClarity Administrator uses multicast SSPD to automatically discover certain ThinkSystem servers (see Managing devices).

You can use Amazon Corretto 8 when using the remote control features for certain servers (see Using remote control to manage ThinkServer and NeXtScale sd350 M5 servers and Using remote control to manage Converged, Flex System, NeXtScale, and System x servers).

Monitoring You can view historical metrics for power consumption and device temperature (see Monitoring historical metrics).
Server configuration You can learn extended ThinkServer CPlus BIOS settings for a specific managed ThinkServer CPlus server and dynamically create a category pattern for those settings (see Defining extended ThinkServer CPlus BIOS settings).
Firmware updates You can use a remote share over SSH File System (SSHFS) as the firmware-updates repository, which can be shared by multiple XClarity Administrator instances (see Using a remote repository for firmware updates).

An event is raised when the status changing to Pending Firmware Maintenance Mode to notify you when the server needs to be restarted (see Applying selected firmware updates using compliance policies and Applying selected firmware updates without using compliance policies).

You can launch the management controller interface for a server from the Apply and Activate page by clicking the linked IP address for the server in the Device column the table (see Applying and activating firmware updates).

Operating system deployment The number of operating-system images that can be imported is no longer limited to 10 images or 50GB. You can continue to import images if there is sufficient free space in the OS images repository (see Importing operating-system images).
Service and support You can set up an event forwarder to send bulletins to you through email (see Getting bulletins from Lenovo).
