Unmanaging devices

You can use Lenovo XClarity Orchestrator to remove devices from management by their respective resource manager. This process is called unmanaging.

Before you begin

To perform this task, you must be a member of a user group to which the predefined Supervisor or Security Administrator role is assigned.

Ensure that there are no active jobs running on the device.

About this task

XClarity Orchestrator automatically unmanage devices that are offline for a 24 hours or more by default (see Configuring global discovery settings).

For most devices, XClarity Orchestrator and the resource manager retain certain information about the device after it is unmanaged. That information is reapplied when you manage the same device again.

Procedure

To umanage devices, complete the following steps.

  1. From the XClarity Orchestrator menu bar, click Resources (Resources icon), and then click the device type to display a card with a tabular view of all managed devices of that type.
  2. Select one or more devices to be unmanaged.
  3. lick the Unmanage icon (Delete icon) to display the unmanagement dialog.
  4. Optional: Select Force unmanage even if the device is not reachable.
  5. Click Unmanage.

The Unmanage dialog shows the progress of each step in the unmanagement process.
